Parc Drieën-Huysen care home and apartments completed

10 juli 2017

The first stage of Parc Drieën-Huysen, comprising a care home and two apartment buildings, has been completed. The construction work, which took 16 months to complete, was undertaken by VolkerWessels subsidiary Boele & van Eesteren, which was also responsible for the development. The home was built for care foundation Zonnehuisgroep Vlaardingen and the two apartment buildings for housing corporation Woningstichting Samenwerking.

New modern care home

The new nursing home Drieën-Huysen Zuid consists of 81 apartments of approximately 45 m2 each for people with a physical (somatic) condition. Each resident has their own apartment comprising a living room with kitchenette, a French balcony and a separate bedroom. In addition there is a spacious bathroom equipped with a ceiling hoist. Each floor features a communal living room and kitchen, where residents can cook and eat together. The nursing home is connected to the two apartment blocks by a covered passageway featuring a wide variety of facilities including a restaurant, a hairdresser and a chiropodist.

Combined care and housing

The apartment buildings adjacent to the care home provide accommodation for those who wish to live independently but with access to care if they need it. The rented homes are allocated by Woningstichting Samenwerking, while Zonnehuisgroep Vlaardingen puts forward candidates with a care need. Zonnehuisgroep Vlaardingen is able to provide home care as well as the new VPT (Volledig Pakket Thuis – ‘full home package’) care product, which provides personal care, nursing and assistance to people in their own home. In principle the care is identical to that provided by a care home.

The three-room apartments are generously proportioned (approximately 65-70 m2) and each has its own balcony and spacious bathroom. The apartments are highly suitable for couples where only one of the partners has a care need.

Second stage

Stage two is called Holy Résidence and will consist of two buildings, each comprising 22 luxury apartments.
