VolkerWessels has developed a technology which allows nitrogen emissions produced by both stationary and mobile equipment during the construction phase of projects to be reduced by as much as 99%. We call this technology the NoNOx filter.
The NoNOx filter comprises a number of proven technological components. Smart linking of these technologies enables the filter to do its work and thus reduce emissions of nitrogen during the construction phase by up to 99%. The filter works by converting the NOx in the exhaust fumes into non-harmful substances. The operation and performance of the technology have been validated by an accredited air monitoring service as being in accordance with NEN and ISO standards.
NoNOx filter for stationary and mobile equipment
The NoNOx 500 is intended for engines up to 500 kW and has a size of 3.00 by 1.40 by 1.70 metres and is in fact a more compact version of the first NoNOx with the same capacity. The nitrogen filter has been designed so that it is easy to use in practice and, with the help of a flexible connection, can be directly connected and mounted on large equipment such as drilling rigs and pile drivers. The NoNOx 500 has already been used successfully on a number of VolkerWessels projects in the Netherlands.
The NoNOx 150 is intended for engines up to 150 kW and has the size of a large suitcase (90 by 60 by 50 cm). This smaller version has been developed for mobile equipment such as excavators, asphalt spreaders and shovels.
The NoNOx filter is unique and highly sustainable because it can be used with all existing equipment in the Dutch market, even older equipment. This removes the need to sell existing machinery to markets outside the Netherlands or destroy it, which obviously does not contribute towards a genuinely sustainable solution. Thanks to this technology projects that have been put on hold as a result of the emissions issue may be able to go ahead again.
