G&S Bouw starts with realisation of Tripolis-Park on Amsterdam Zuidas

G&S Bouw, part of VolkerWessels, was commissioned by Flow Real Estate this week to start the redevelopment and new construction of Tripolis-Park on the Amsterdam Zuidas. Two of the monumental Tripolis buildings, designed at the time by architect Aldo van Eyck, will be completely renovated and optimised. A new 'landscraper' will be built along the A10 motorway; a 155 meter long and 11 storey office building that will be realised next to and partly over the existing towers of Tripolis. The design of Tripolis-Park was made by architect Winy Maas of MVRDV. The construction time of the project is approximately 2.5 years.


Distinctive for the current Tripolis complex are the sloping park on which the buildings stand, and the design philosophy of the original architect Aldo van Eyck. These original aspects are respected and further strengthened in the new set-up. Innovative and creative modifications to the existing towers will transform them into attractive and efficient office space. The new 'landscraper' will have a large window on the A10 side and a transparent atrium.

The total area of the offices is approximately 50,000 m2. The main tenant will be Uber, which will occupy 30,000 m2 with its international headquarters. In addition to offices and facilities, there will also be affordable rental apartments on campus. Tripolis-Park is part of the Verdi Zuidas plan area, where an attractive mixed-use area with around fifteen hundred new homes will be created in the coming years.


Steel construction

The new building consists of four cores based on the existing parking basement. The structure will be constructed entirely of steel. Because of the complexity, the partners De Kok Staalbouw, Rollecate, Van 't Hek and Arton were involved in the project at an early stage. As a side contractor, Bosman Bedrijven is responsible for the installations. EGM has the role of project architect and Van Rossum Raadgevend Ingenieurs acts as structural engineer. VolkerWessels companies Gebr. van Kessel and Aveco de Bondt are responsible for drainage activities and various consultancy activities respectively.


G&S Bouw specialises in commercial high-rise buildings and has already constructed a large number of iconic buildings on the Zuidas in recent years, including 400 and 500 Beethovenstraat, 900 and 1000 Mahler, Gershwin Townhouses and The Edge. G&S Bouw is currently working with VolkerWessels company Boele & Van Eesteren on the realisation of Valley, a spectacular green valley on the east side of the area.
