Amersfoort, the Netherlands, 21 May 2019 - VolkerWessels Logistics Development (VWLD) will develop a new service office with distribution centre for Welkoop at Businesspark Apeldoorn North 2 (Bedrijvenpark Apeldoorn Noord 2). Both companies signed the rental agreement recently. The current service office and DC is located in Ede and will move to Apeldoorn after finalization of the project. The construction of the project will commence after the Summer of 2019.
Project on 4.5 hectare of land
VWLD will buy around 4.5 hectares of land for the construction of the service office of around 3,500 m² with a distribution centre of around 20,000 m² and a parking garage for around 180 cars. Welkoop will also perpetrate e-commerce from this location. Welkoop is the expert brand for gardens and animals with 150 shops and an online store.
Welkoop was adviced by Grip-Advies and Barcon during the development process. Systabo, a subsidiary of VolkerWessels, will construct the project. Leferink Architecten, in co-operation with B+O Architectuur en Interieur was the architect of the project.
Strategic location
Yvonne Tiberius of Welkoop: “Our new service office / distribution centre in the North of Apeldoorn is located centrally relative to our shops and has a favourable location near the A1 and A50. The additional 7,000 m2 relative to our current location is necessary because of the growth in turnover, assortment and volume.
