The development of Y Towers is one of the most spectacular large-scale projects in Amsterdam. The building complex consisting of a residential tower and a hotel tower will be realised by contractor Rizzani de Eccher. For the installation technology in the building complex HOMIJ Technische Installaties (a VolkerWessels company) has been added to the construction team. With the contracting of HOMIJ the construction team for Y Towers is complete.
The assignment for HOMIJ concerns the design and realisation of all building-related installations for both towers. Because of the size and required construction speed, prefabrication is essential. The installation concepts DLS and COW of HOMIJ are used for this. With these concepts it is possible to prefabricate up to 70% of the installations. This approach also contributes to smooth logistics through 'just in time' delivery to the construction site.
Y Towers will consist of two iconic buildings along the river IJ. The hotel tower is intended for the hotel chain Maritim. It offers space for 579 rooms, a conference centre and some commercial functions. The upper part of the residential tower will contain 174 different apartments including penthouses, family apartments and starter apartments. In the lower part of the residential tower 120 so-called "extended-stay rooms" will be created. Owner and investor of the project Y Towers is Union Investment Real Estate.
