The Department of Engineering Companies (VIB) of Bouwend Nederland and the BIM Loket today proudly introduce BIM basis Infra. With these data exchange agreements, the sector is taking an important step towards better digital cooperation. BIM specialists from VolkerWessels (VWICC) are also involved in the initiative.

Better utilisation of digitisation and computerisation is an important 'booster' in making a productivity leap possible. Seamless exchange of digital information between clients and contractors is essential here and accelerates the digitisation of the infrastructure sector. This is only possible if all parties involved speak the same language.

BIM basis Infra

The initiative for BIM basis Infra came into being in September 2018 on the Market Day of Rijkswaterstaat, the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management. On the initiative of the VIB and the BIM desk, a group of BIM specialists from Ballast Nedam, BAM, BESIX, Boskalis, Dura Vermeer, Heijmans, Roelofs, TBI company Mobilis, Van Oord and VolkerWessels (VWICC) met on the Construction Campus in November 2019. Following a similar initiative in utility and housing construction (BIM basis ILS) - the parties agreed to draw up basic agreements for the exchange of unambiguous digital information and the structure of 3D models.
