Pipelines, cables and boreholes for transporting residual heat, steam, gas, oil, water and electricity: VolkerWessels develops, builds and maintains these critical 'arteries' within the Netherlands. Whilst respecting the surrounding area, we construct connections in the most challenging locations. Our cables and pipelines traverse everything from rural regions and vast rivers to congested railway tracks and motorways.
Our specialities of the house include horizontal directional drilling (HDD). This technique enables us to create underground connections at complex locations where causing disruption to the surrounding area and existing traffic is simply not an option. Whether this means drilling underneath a busy canal, in a city centre or along a railway track, we are the go-to specialist in this technology, performing pioneering drilling operations anywhere and everywhere.
The Netherlands is getting greener and VolkerWessels is navigating its clients through the landscape of solar panels and wind turbines. Offering integrated services means being able to assist our clients with everything from subsidies, design and procurement to construction and (long-term) maintenance. We also have ample experience in adapting distribution grids to locally-generated electricity, whether this means increasing the capacity of the grid or installing smart energy meters to coordinate energy production and consumption.
From wind to electricity
In the energy agreement it was agreed that by 2030 32% of the Dutch energy supply should come from renewable energy sources. Four large offshore wind farms will therefore be constructed off the coast of Zeeland. The power generated there will come ashore in Borssele via OHVS Alpha and Beta,...
